Hello!!  My name is Kari and I am currently a junior at Morehead State University.  My major is Mathematics Secondary Education and my minor is General Business.  I plan to conduct my student teaching in the Spring of 2007.  I am really excited about becoming a teacher.  I have always wanted to become one.  I come from a huge family of school teachers, so I like to think that teaching is in my blood.  I want to be a math teacher because math has always been my passion.  I know how difficult it is for high school students to feel successful in math and I want to be able to help them.  I think that high school students desperately need teachers that can explain math to them in a way that they can understand it. 

I was born and raised in Pike County, Kentucky.  Pike County is my home and I don't think I will ever leave it.  I have to go home every weekend or I get really homesick.  My family means the world to me.  I have two parents that I really admire.  My mother taught elementary school for thirty years.  My father is a disabled coal miner and a Korean veteran.  I have one sister, who is a special education teacher. (I told you I come from a family of teachers!!)

In my spare time (what little of it that I have), I love to read, watch television, and just relax.  My favorite books are The Catcher in the Rye by J.D. Salinger, 1984 by George Orwell, and all books by Nicholas Sparks.  I am a HUGE Nicholas Sparks fan.  If I could meet any living person, it would definitely be him.  It amazes me how a human being can create the beautiful works that he does when he writes.  My favorite television shows are "American Idol," "The Golden Girls," "One Tree Hill," "Days of our Lives," and "Passions" (I love my soap operas).  My favorite movies are "Titanic" and "The Notebook."  I also love chick flicks!!!
